Goike has a career day to take the title

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUSTIN GOIKE for capturing his first Rondot's Pro Shop / DV8 Shootout title at Lodage Lanes in Belleville!  Justin started out the day with a bang, shooting his very first sanctioned 300 game in the qualifying opener then marching thru the match play via a string of close matches to emerge as the champion.  He proved that you don't need huge numbers to win a Shootout - after that perfecto in the opener, he wisely avoided the "one bad game" jinx by hanging right around his average the rest of the day and rolling enough to win his tough matches.  Justin received $400, the title, the Goike family bragging rights, and he also receives that very valuable Bye into the match-play round of next August's Grand Finale Shootout with the guaranteed $1,000 first prize.

Damn Good Bowling, Justin!

CONGRATULATIONS ALSO TO DONNIE ODUM for his second place finish!  Donnie was another example of how you don't need the big scores to do well in a Shootout as he just kept steadily rolling well to make it through the qualifying and then the match play all the way to the title match.  He had a Murderer's Row of match opponents, defeating past champion Roy Wellwood, up-and-coming star Don Barwig, and current Grand Finale champion Randy Ward to advance to the finals.  He put on a clinic of how well you can do if you simply keep making good shots and stay out of trouble.  Great shootin', Donnie!

THE OHL FAMILY DYNASTY continues to grow as Dana Ohl shot his first-ever honor score, a 299, in the first game of qualifying.  Dana also made the final 3 of the Grand Finale, and son Aaron Ohl took second place in last month's Kickoff Shootout.  "Waiting in the wings" is daughter Sydney, a high school senior & captain of the school Varsity bowling team, and she is just itchin' to get started on her own Shootout career so she can start beating up on the big boys.  The Ohl family is trying to rule the Shootouts!

THE NEXT SHOOTOUT is the Shocktober event at Brighton Bowl on Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 PM.  Entries will close at 6:50 PM sharp.  This is a regular DV8 / Rondot's Pro Shop Shootout tour stop, so it's the usual $40 to enter with the usual rules and format.  Visit the Facebook event page for more details:
