LISA BISHOP WINS WOMEN’S SERIES EVENT AT SHELBY LANES

Lisa Bishop of Belleville won her second Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) Rip 10 Entertainment Women’s Series event on Sunday with a 229-177 triumph over Julie Oczepek of Reese at Shelby Lanes in Utica. Bishop took home the top prize of $500, while Oczepek settled for $250.
Bishop qualified fourth in the field of 26, with a four-game total of 899. Her consistent qualifying total included a high game of 237. In match play she beat Sandra Schultz of Macomb 224-202 and Michelle Ewald of Clinton Township 216-213 en route to the championship match.
Oczepek qualified sixth with 876. Her victories in match play included wins over Robin Orlikowski of Grand Rapids 248-227 and Tanisha Burris of Lansing 236-222 on her way to the final match.
The win by Bishop propelled her into first place in the season long cup list with 423 points. She is followed by Oczepek, who has 411.
