REGGIE GREEN TRIUMPHS OVER RECORD FIELD

Takes the DV8 New Year's Countdown title
with final frame victory over Amii Friesorger

CONGRATULATIONS TO REGGIE GREEN for defeating the biggest DV8 Shootout field in history as he took the New Year's Countdown title at Colonial Lanes in Ann Arbor.  118 bowlers went to the starting gate, and when it was all over Reggie stood alone as our newest Champion!  He earned $500, the title, some stiff bragging rights, and that very valuable Bye into the match play rounds of August's Grand Finale with the $1,000 first place guaranteed by Maplewood Lanes.  He didn't shoot really big scores but he did keep hanging on to squeak though most of his matches and stay in the hunt, most of his victories were less than 10 pins.  He just kept going until there was nobody else left.  That was some Damn Good Bowling, Reggie!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ALSO TO AMII FRIESORGER for making it all the way to the title match after just barely making the cut - for the very first time after many tries.  Sporting a mere 150 average she definitely had the crowd behind her as she kept marching through the match play, including a heart-stopping one pin victory over Ron
Laurain in the Round of 8.  In the championship match, the larger than normal crowd was hootin' and hollerin' for every good shot she made.  She needed two strikes in the 10th frame to defeat Reggie, but the first one went right through the nose.  That crowd exploded in cheers for both bowlers in appreciation for a great performance by them, and Amii was consoled by a nice $300 payday for her second place finish.  Where else can a 150 bowler experience such a thrilling day as she
enjoyed?  Only in the DV8 Rondot's Pro Shop Shootout Series.  That was also some Damn Good Bowling, Amii!!!

A Very Happy New Year to Jo Kangas!  After helping out on the Shootout Staff for years Jo finally cashed in with the lucky ticket and won the DV8 Dude that was so generously donated by DV8 Bowling.  As with every shootout, the proceeds from the ball raffle supplements our Grand Finale prize fund.  Make sure you get the necessary three tournaments in this season to be eligible for that Grand Finale!!!!

THE NEXT DV8 SHOOTOUT is the annual Superbowl Shootout at Maplewood Lanes in Saline on February 2nd.  Like our Turkey Shoot, this event is a perennial sellout.  We have changed the start time from noon to 11 AM in order to accommodate 108 bowlers instead of the previous 96 and still give everyone time to enjoy their plans for the Big Game afterwards.  Early entry is virtually mandatory, especially if you wish to bowl with family/friends on the same lanes.  When we have 108 entries submitted with the $40 entry fee, we will start a waiting list.  Avenues for entry are outlined on the Facebook event page:

Thanks to everyone who came out to make this our biggest Shootout ever!
And we hope to see you at Maplewood on Super Bowl Sunday.
